Father's Day

What Father's Day is and why we celebrate it each year.

History

This holiday began in 1910 but was only celebrated by Washington State. It wasn't until 1972 that Father's Day became an official federal holiday!

Fun Fact:

Father's Day was inspired by Mother's Day!

Importance

This holiday is a way to celebrate your biological father or an important father figure in your life. Fathers often do so much to make our lives easier and better. They teach us, keep us safe, make funny dad jokes, fix things when they're broken, take us on fun adventures, and so much more! Today's a way to thank them for all they give to us!

Ideas to Celebrate

Card:

A classic gift always includes a card! You can get crafting and create a snazzy card, or go to the store and pick out your favorite.

Quality Time:

Spend time watching your dad's favorite sports game or show with him today! Another idea is to join him on his favorite adventure or activity. Spending time together is a great way to make memories that will last forever!

Acts of Service:

Making your Dad's life easier by completing some of his to-do list can be a great stress reliever. Some examples of this might be completing shores or making him a meal.
